Housing and Residential Life Showroom

The Housing and Residential Life Showroom at Texas State allows for guests who are not able to attend an on-campus tour of our facilities to experience in-hall life. This space was intentionally designed to reflect four of our residence halls on-campus and help students and guests understand formatting, furniture layout, and get them excited about Texas State.

FUN FACTS & HIGHLIGHTS

  • The poster series displayed in the space was designed by Kaylee Marsh, Student Graphic Designer for Housing and Residential Life
  • The Boko Bobcat stuffed animal was created as a promotional item for residents who volunteered to show their in-hall spaces during large scale recruiting events like Bobcat Day
  • Photos are updated each semester to reflect the events happening on-campus and to have experiences for Housing Ambassadors to talk about when meeting with prospective students and families.
  • Each shirt design in the showroom closet is an event shirt from Housing and Residential Life. These range from move-in volunteer shirts, late night breakfast shirts, to RHA and student staff polos.
  • The magnet displayed on the mini-fridge was also designed by Kaylee Marsh, Student Graphic Designer for Housing and Residential Life. These pop-out magnets provided important contact information for housing, and also created a picture frame to display images from their time at TXST.
  • Information in the display is rotated based on season, with move-in guides displayed in the summer, off-campus living information in the spring, and upper-division housing sign ups in the end of fall. Consistent flyers include our dining information, and living on-campus guide.
  • Bedding was changed from blue and pink, to maroon and gold theming to support TXST branding.
  • Pens and promotional items in the space are rotated out each year to create tangible items for guests to take with them following their visit. (This has included pens, buttons, tape measurers, reusable straws, umbrellas, and stress balls).
  • Each fall, posters are hung in the showroom from TXST athletics to highlight the upcoming season and promote student attendance. (Not pictured, due to PAC-12 transition and rebranding in July).
  • Each bed is lofted at a different height to be able to discuss different lofting heights, from highest to lowest loft available.
