What originally started as a nostalgic sweet treat in a baseball hat was quickly reclaimed by students as “construction hats” for the opening of the newest residence halls on campus.
Construction Ice Cream Hats - Specialty Promotional Item
Ice Cream "Construction Hats"

2 New Residence Halls
Alamito & Cibolo halls opened Fall 2024 to just over 1,000 first year residents.
Let them eat ice cream
Campus leadership including the president and vice presidents, scooped ice cream for residents to welcome students to their new TXST Home.
Reduce and Reuse
Instead of using one use bowls, we were able to find something students wanted to keep and reuse. Hats were repurposed as decor and to hold trinkets.

Celebrating New Construction
President Kelly Damphousse and his wife Beth joined the housing team to scoop ice cream and celebrate the first residence hall opened since 2014.
Students repurposed hats by putting them on other promotional bobcat stuffed animals that had been given for participation in events such as Bobcat Day (for potential new students). Students also repurposed hats to hold trinkets and school supplies on their desks.
What originally was meant as a baseball hat was reimagined by our students as a construction hat for the opening of our newest buildings.
