Designing the Logo
Our student graphic designer, Janie Shives was tasked with designing a shirt that exemplified community at TXST. The logo she chose for this shirt exemplified the great gathering spaces and history of our institution.
- LBJ Statue: As the only university in Texas to graduate a president, our university rallies around the great legacy of Lyndon B. Johnson. Students will shake LBJ's hand on their way to their finals for good luck.
- The Arch: The gateway to campus. From the top of the hill, you can see all of the beautiful city of San Marcos, and from the bottom you can see the main center of campus. The arch is adorned with the latin words:
- Auctoritas: the sense of one's standing gained through experience, industriousness and service to others.
- Gravitas: a sense of dignity, seriousness and duty.
- Humanitas: an appreciation for refinement, civilization and learning. Veritas: truthfulness.
- Old Main: The symbol of our great university and the first building on-campus. We continue hold true to the mission of the founders of this university.
- States up hand signs: A symbol for the campus, our states up hand sign points inward toward the center of the palm, as TXST's campus is considered the center of texas.
